The project represents 1 out of 49 distinct supply zones which comprise the Nkonjeni RWSS. Water is supplied under gravity via a 5km long 160mm/75mm Ф UPVC delivery main to a 85kl cast-in-situ concrete reservoir. Water with a yard connection LOS is supplied to a total of 1344 people living in 152 households via a reticulation comprising approximately 10km of HDPE piping.
The outlet to the reservoir is controlled by a “Smartflow” device which limits the flow into the area to the daily FBW allowance of 6000l/household per month or 200l/day. The project also included erosion protection and numerous air/scour/isolating valves etc.
